Brevo Review 2026: Low-Cost Email, Messaging and CRM With Ecommerce Limits

This Brevo review is for store owners and marketers weighing Brevo against Klaviyo, Omnisend and Mailchimp. The short verdict: pick Brevo if you want email, SMS, WhatsApp, transactional email and a sales CRM in one low-cost account. It fits best when your list is large and your sending volume is modest. Brevo prices its plans by emails sent, from $9 a month, and the free plan sends 300 emails a day. Skip Brevo if your store depends on a Shopify-native app, revenue reporting and deep ecommerce automation. Those features sit on the $499 a month Professional plan.
Every Brevo fact below comes from Brevo's own pages, read on 2 November 2026. Prices are in US dollars, billed monthly.

What is Brevo?
Brevo is a customer platform that combines email marketing, SMS, WhatsApp, marketing automation, transactional email, live chat and a sales CRM. Armand Thiberge founded the company in 2012 in India and France. Brevo is based in Paris, with offices in the United States, Germany, India, Austria and Bulgaria. It was called Sendinblue until 4 May 2023. Brevo says more than 600,000 customers use the platform. It is a certified B Corp, holds ISO 27001 certification and keeps its servers in the European Union.
Brevo pricing: plans priced by emails sent
Brevo charges for the emails you send each month, not for the contacts you store. That is the biggest difference from Klaviyo, Omnisend and Mailchimp, which all price by contact count. The prices below are from brevo.com on 2 November 2026. Yearly billing takes 10% off.
| Plan | Monthly price | Emails included | Contact limit | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 300 a day | 100,000 | Editor, templates, forms, basic reporting, transactional email, automation for 2,000 contacts |
| Starter | From $9 | From 5,000 a month | 500 at 5,000 emails; 500,000 from 20,000 emails | Email and SMS campaigns, segmentation, AI content, email support, one user. Logo removal $12 a month |
| Standard | From $18 | From 5,000 a month | Same tiers as Starter | Unlimited workflows, A/B testing, heatmaps, send time optimization, web tracking, one landing page, no logo |
| Professional | From $499 | From 150,000 a month | 2,000,000 | WhatsApp, popups and push, 10 users, contact scoring, AI segmentation, ecommerce features, phone support |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | 1 million or more | Multi-account management, custom objects, loyalty engine, dedicated IP, single sign-on, onboarding, success manager |
Starter costs $17 a month for 10,000 emails and $32 for 20,000. Standard costs $35 for 10,000 emails, $69 for 20,000 and $139 for 100,000. Professional costs $599 for 250,000 emails and $999 for 1 million. The 5,000-email tiers on Starter and Standard allow only 500 contacts. A bigger list needs the 20,000-email tier or above. Our Brevo pricing guide walks through every tier, add-on and credit price.
Email campaigns and templates
Brevo's email editor is a drag and drop builder with a template library sorted by industry and use case. Every plan, including Free, has the editor, the templates, sign-up forms and an AI content generator for subject lines and copy. A/B testing starts on the Standard plan. So does AI send time optimization, which sends each contact's email at the hour that contact usually opens. Starter emails carry a "Sent with Brevo" footer unless you pay $12 a month to remove it. Standard and above remove it.
Automation and workflows
Brevo's automation builder runs multi-step workflows from triggers such as a sign-up, a purchase, an abandoned cart, a birthday or a website event. The free plan includes automation for up to 2,000 contacts. The Standard plan removes that cap and allows an unlimited number of workflows. Brevo's pricing page lists marketing automation under Standard and not under Starter. Confirm the Starter limit in a trial account before you rely on it. The Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Magento 2 and BigCommerce plugins create the cart update, cart deletion and completed order events that workflows use.
Segmentation and the CRM
Segmentation starts on the Starter plan, with filters on demographics, website activity, campaign engagement and custom events, and no limit on saved segments. Once a store plugin syncs orders, purchase history, product collections, customer tags and lifetime value become filters too. Contact scoring with RFM (recency, frequency and spend) and lifetime value scores, and AI-suggested segments, are Professional-plan features.
The CRM is Brevo's Sales Platform: deal pipelines, deal tracking, calls, meetings, shared notes and sales reports. Brevo sells it per user as Sales Essentials at $31 a month or Sales Advanced at $65 a month, which adds outreach sequences. Marketing contacts and sales deals share one record.
SMS and WhatsApp
SMS works on every Brevo plan, including Free, through prepaid credits that never expire. Brevo lists US prices from $0.0109 per message credit, with rates that vary by country. SMS campaigns, transactional SMS and SMS steps inside workflows are all included. Two-way replies land in Brevo Conversations, and US and Canadian numbers can reply by text. Senders in the United States and Canada must register a toll-free number and include a business prefix and STOP instructions. Brevo's compliance feature adds both. WhatsApp campaigns are a Professional-plan channel, paid with prepaid credits priced per country and per template type.
Transactional email
Every Brevo plan includes transactional email through a REST API and an SMTP relay, with webhooks for opens, clicks, bounces and deliveries. The free plan sends 300 transactional emails a day. Official SDKs cover PHP, Node.js, Ruby, Python, Go, Java and C#. Attachments go up to 25 MB, and one API request can batch up to 1,000 emails. The rate limit is 1,000 requests a second on every plan. Transactional messages can also go out by SMS and WhatsApp.
Ecommerce integrations
Brevo connects to the five big store platforms, but the depth differs.
- Shopify. The Brevo PushOwl app syncs customers, purchase history and order status in real time, and runs abandoned cart and post-purchase flows. One Shopify store connects to one Brevo account.
- WooCommerce. The official Brevo plugin from the WordPress plugin directory connects with an API key. It syncs customers and orders in real time and routes WooCommerce emails through Brevo's SMTP relay.
- Magento 2 (Adobe Commerce). A plugin on the Magento Marketplace syncs contacts, orders, products and categories. Brevo's Magento page now presents the setup as an Enterprise-team onboarding behind a demo request.
- BigCommerce. Brevo's Enterprise team configures the integration, again behind a demo request.
- PrestaShop. A free module installed from the PrestaShop admin with an API key, with abandoned cart and order update automations.
Brevo's ecommerce dashboards add revenue attribution and product analysis once orders sync. AI product recommendations, back-in-stock alerts and coupon codes are Professional-plan features.
Deliverability
Unless you have a dedicated IP, you send from Brevo's shared IP pools. A dedicated IP is included on Enterprise and sold as a yearly add-on for high-volume senders. The help center walks through SPF, DKIM and DMARC authentication for your sending domain. Brevo quotes a 99% delivery rate for transactional email. That is Brevo's own figure, not an independent test. New accounts pass an approval step before they can send. Trustpilot reviewers report suspensions tied to bounce and complaint rates, and Brevo's replies attribute those to protecting its shared IPs. Clean your list before you import it. Professional includes three hours a year with a deliverability specialist.
Reporting
Reporting grows with the plan. Starter shows opens and clicks per campaign. Standard adds click heatmaps, geography and device reports, and web and event tracking. Professional adds the AI Data Analyst, which answers plain-language questions about your data, plus contact scoring. For stores, the ecommerce dashboards show revenue attribution and product analysis once a plugin syncs orders.
Support
Support depends on the plan. Free, Starter and Standard accounts get email support in six languages. Professional adds phone support and the deliverability specialist hours. Enterprise adds tailored onboarding and a customer success manager. Trustpilot reviewers praise the setup and the free plan, but many say support is slow, bot-driven or hard to reach. Brevo states on its Trustpilot profile that it replies to 97% of negative reviews, usually within a week.
Brevo pros and cons
Pros
- Pricing by emails sent, so a large list with modest volume costs less than on contact-priced platforms
- A free plan with 300 emails a day, 100,000 contacts, forms, templates and automation for 2,000 contacts
- Email, SMS, WhatsApp, push, live chat, transactional email and a CRM in one account
- Transactional API and SMTP relay on every plan, with EU data hosting and ISO 27001
- Official plugins for WooCommerce, Magento 2 and PrestaShop
- Ease of use is the most common praise on G2, Capterra and Trustpilot
Cons
- Ecommerce depth sits on the $499 a month Professional plan: contact scoring, AI recommendations, back-in-stock alerts, coupons and WhatsApp
- The 5,000-email tiers on Starter and Standard cap contacts at 500
- The pricing page lists automation and A/B testing under Standard, not Starter
- Magento and BigCommerce setups go through Brevo's Enterprise team rather than a self-serve install
- Shared IPs below Enterprise, an approval step for new accounts, and reviewer reports of suspensions
- Email-only support below Professional, with mixed reviews of its speed
- Extra landing pages, extra users and logo removal on Starter all cost more
Brevo compared with Klaviyo, Omnisend and Mailchimp
Klaviyo prices by active profiles and builds everything around store data, predictive analytics and Shopify. Its free plan covers 250 active profiles and 500 email sends a month. Brevo costs less at most list sizes but has fewer store-specific features below Professional. Read Brevo vs Klaviyo, or see our Klaviyo agency page if Klaviyo looks like the better fit.
Omnisend prices by contacts, with a free plan for 250 contacts and 500 emails a month. It builds its automation, forms and reporting around online stores. Our Omnisend agency page covers that work.
Mailchimp prices by contact count and limits its free plan to a small list. Brevo's free plan allows far more contacts, and its paid plans add SMS, WhatsApp and a CRM. Read Brevo vs Mailchimp for the full comparison. If none of the three fits, our list of Brevo alternatives covers the other options.
Who should choose Brevo
Choose Brevo if:
- You want email, SMS and a CRM in one account for a small or mid-size business
- Your list is large but you send rarely
- You need transactional email and SMS from the same account as your campaigns
- You sell on WooCommerce, PrestaShop or Magento 2
- You want customer data hosted in the European Union
Look elsewhere if:
- You sell on Shopify and want a store-native app with deep flow and revenue reporting
- You need RFM segmentation, predictive scores, product recommendations or WhatsApp below $499 a month
- You send cold outreach or import unverified lists, which Brevo's approval and suspension rules punish
- You expect phone or chat support on a low-tier plan
If you sit between the two lists, our Brevo agency team can check your list size, send volume and store platform.
Brevo review FAQ
Is Brevo free?
Yes. Brevo's free plan has no time limit and needs no credit card. It sends up to 300 emails a day and stores up to 100,000 contacts. It includes the email editor, templates, sign-up forms and transactional email, and you buy SMS credits as needed. Automation on the free plan covers up to 2,000 contacts.
Is Brevo legitimate?
Yes. Brevo started in 2012 as Sendinblue and is based in Paris, with offices in the United States, Germany, India, Austria and Bulgaria. It says it serves more than 600,000 customers, is a certified B Corp and holds ISO 27001 certification. On 2 November 2026 it scored 4.6 on Capterra, 4.5 on G2 and 3.8 on Trustpilot.
Is Sendinblue now Brevo?
Yes. Sendinblue became Brevo on 4 May 2023. The company had grown from a newsletter tool into a platform with SMS, WhatsApp, chat and a CRM. Only 31% of its clients still used it for newsletters alone, so it chose a name without "send" in it. Some plugins and directories still show the Sendinblue name.
What is Brevo used for?
Brevo is used to send email campaigns and to run automated workflows such as welcome series and abandoned cart recovery. It also sends SMS and WhatsApp messages, delivers transactional email through its API and SMTP relay, and manages sales deals in its CRM. Small and mid-size businesses use it as one account for marketing, transactional messaging and sales.
Is Brevo a CRM?
Partly. Brevo's Sales Platform adds deal pipelines, calls, meetings, notes and sales reports to the marketing contact database. Brevo sells it per user as Sales Essentials at $31 a month or Sales Advanced at $65 a month. It suits a small sales team rather than a company that needs a full CRM such as Salesforce or HubSpot.
Does Brevo work with Shopify?
Brevo's Shopify connection is the Brevo PushOwl app. It syncs customers, purchase history and order status in real time and runs abandoned cart and post-purchase flows. One Shopify store connects to one Brevo account. Synced purchase history, product collections, customer tags and lifetime value become segment filters, and the ecommerce dashboards add revenue attribution once orders sync.
Is Brevo good for ecommerce?
Brevo covers the ecommerce basics: plugins for WooCommerce, Magento 2 and PrestaShop, purchase-history segments and revenue dashboards. Abandoned cart and post-purchase workflows run free for up to 2,000 contacts and without a cap from Standard. The deeper store features (AI recommendations, back-in-stock alerts, coupons, RFM scoring) need the $499 a month Professional plan. Klaviyo and Omnisend go deeper on Shopify.
Next steps
If Brevo fits, the cheapest test is the free plan: import a cleaned list, connect your store plugin and build one abandoned cart workflow. If you would rather have it built and run for you, our Brevo agency team sets up Brevo workflows, campaigns, segments, SMS and WhatsApp. If you are still choosing a platform, our ecommerce email marketing agency page explains how we run email and SMS for online stores.
